Reusing an Old T-shirt

This is how I reused an old T-shirt of my brothers. He had grown out of it.

It was a plain blue T shirt.

First, I cut out the bottom half of it by snipping right across from armpit to armpit. You will get a squarish or rectangularish portion. I stitched the top and bottom. Leave a little room to allow you to fill it, and then stitch that up too. And you have a little cushion. You can selected T shirts with prints or whatever funky designs you want, and use that make it look fancier.
This one requires a little more stuffing. But you get the jist of it...

Second, I cut off one sleeve and stitched up both open ends. Again leave some room to fill it in, and then complete the stitching. Don't over stuff, you need to leave some room for shaping it. Here I used little tiny thermocol balls. This makes it easier to shape it up, and the phone sits better on it. Once you've filled it up adequately... shape it into a little couch. You can use it just like that, or if you want it to maintain that shape, run a threaded needle through the center of the couch seat across to the bottom of the couch. 2 to 3 stitches will hold it in place. I didn't do that because I may want to adjust the shape a little every now and then.

And finally, I used up the remaining top half of the T shirt, including the neckline. Cut off the other sleeve. Then stitched up all three sides, leaving the neck portion open. The sleeve I cut up into thin strips and then stretch them. Then braided them. Tie the ends in a knot. Use each braided strip on either side - one on the front of the shirt, and the other on the back. And you have a bag. You can use it for whatever purpose you wish. Design according to your purpose. If you want a hand purse, just make it more rectangular, or however you wish. Also, you can pick fancier colors with fancy pictures or logos on the Tshirts.
This bag, my brother decided to use to hold my tablet..

Old turned New

This was an old shelf that my mom didnt like very much and was stored away hidden under junk.

I decided to try giving it a new look.

All I did was simply add some new color to it. A nice new color and some varnish.. and as good as new.

It gave the little shelf a whole new look and my mom loved it.:)
